Metallica Live:
Back in 1992 when Metallica hit the road to support their Black album they came up with an idea to get closer to their adoring fans – The Snake Pit. This pit was a dugout in the stage where select fans could mosh the night away in the middle of the stage and be amongst the band.
It went down a storm and even though Metallica didn’t re-visit the idea they’ve always tried to give the fans something extra when they play live. Last Saturday I went to see them at the Sheffield Arena and as always they were in the round so you couldn’t really have a bad view and they had a very cool lighting set-up – four huge metal coffins that swung down and around. The coffin being on the cover of their new album “Death Magnetic”.
Not the Snake Pit for sure, but worth a mention nonetheless and when these bad boys swing down over you as the chorus to “Sad But True” kicks in, you know you’re in for a good night! x
